ALFON’s Transitional Housing Program is an opportunity to get your life back on track. Our program designed to help you achieve success through personal responsibility. We offer free transitional housing to give you time and space to get your life together.
The volunteers who run the program in our homes works with each individual and as a collaborative effort decides on the personal outcomes. We allow one resident per room. This is a collaborative living environment with fellow veterans or seniors who are all trying to get back on their feet. Each home is for veterans or our seniors. The decision to enter into our program should not be taken lightly. You must agree and abide by our house rules and help us maintain a safe and caring environment.
You are required to participate in work-therapy assignments, volunteering/community service, goal setting sessions with assessments, and a mandatory 3-day personal development seminar if you reside in our homes more than 5 weeks.
There is no time limit to how long you can stay, as long as you are progressing in your life and towards your goals.

Each year ALFON INC is looking for new ways to provide housing for lower-income residents, seniors and disabled veterans. ALFON acquires donated, vacant and tax-delinquent properties from our local localities. We agree to steward them through a transparent, community-driven process. The goal of this process is to return vacant properties to uses that benefit their neighborhoods and communities, with affordable housing being the first priority.
In addition to affordable housing being an explicit part of our mission, we are also able to encourage permanent affordability by offering to steward land in perpetuity while homes are occupied.
The “Homeownership Bridge,” is aimed at helping renters prepare to become homebuyers. This development aims to get someone from a rental position to homeownership. The process is created for homebuyers who have been working towards but fall short due to mortgage guidelines.
The program uses grant funds and donations awarded specifically for would-be buyers who do not currently qualify for a mortgage due to lower credit scores and lack of savings.
ALFON allows families to lease a home for 12 months. The home values are valued at least $200,000 or higher but will be sold considerably lower to ensure they are affordable to our families.
The monthly rental cost would be the same as the mortgage but during those 12 months, more than half the rent paid each month will be put aside into an escrow account. The escrow funds are then used when purchasing their home.
